Thoughts on living

11 Mar

Just one thought actually. And not my own.

I rarely have thoughts.

Anyway. I read this in an interview with Frances Mayes, the author of “Under the Tuscan Sun”

The Italians have their priorities right: They’re driven, they do their work, but they really enjoy the day-to-day and they don’t put off the enjoyment of the everyday for some future goal. There’s an immediacy there.

Italian or not, regardless of what sun you’re living under, that’s a sure path to happy living right there.

And to look at in a more light-hearted way, I’m going to take the $10 I was saving for later to the custard stand down the road and buy the biggest concrete I can get and enjoy the everyday of this fine Thursday and not concern myself with the money-saving, weight-loosing goals of the future.

(PS – If you’re wondering what the hell a concrete is – because I certainly was when we first moved down this way – it’s like a DQ blizzard, except made with custard. And a million and one times better.)
