Reason 191,987 to marry Zac: He buys me dresses

17 Jul

It has long been known that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.

But a woman’s heart you won’t win a with a steak.

Well maybe some women. If it’s a really good steak.

Not the point.

Women, I think. are all different. Some are won over by money. Some like well-chiseled muscles. Other’s swoon when a man open’s the door and let’s her walk in first.

Me. I like presents. Sorry. But I do.

We all know that’s now why I heart my Zac, but it certainly doesn’t hurt matters any :  )

So here’s the back story… many months ago I stumbled upon a picture of a pretty dress. I LOVED it. And I’m not even much of a dress-girl.  It was dreamy. I declared  that it was the dress of my dreams and I wanted to wear it to my bridal shower and that if I got it and wore it to my shower it would be one of those things you just never-ever forgot. For example, I explained, when my granddaughter is planning her bridal shower I can say, “Oh, I remember my shower, back in 2009. I wore the most lovely sateen dress with a floral print…” Yeah, I’m like that. Dramatic, aren’t I?

We’ll anyway I went on about it for a few weeks but was very reluctant to spend the money since it was a bit more than I would normally pay for a dress. Then things took a turn for the worst  in terms of my job and our personal economy. I went from justifying the price of the dress to figuring out if unemployment would buy groceries and pay rent. So the dress was clearly a no-go. I never mentioned it out loud, but oh….oh I was still thinking about it.

So anywho our personal economy improved in no time, without the need for unemployment, and I went back to work. But the close call with the poor house didn’t exactly leave me wanting to rush out and buy a designer dress. So I told Zac on Monday that I wanted to try on a blue dress that I already had to see if I had shoes to go with it so that I could wear it for the shower. He agreed to attend my fashion show the next night.

But when I came home Tuesday I didn’t feel like having a fashion show.  (I’m a pain in the arse.)  Zac seemed disappointed. I said, “Why do you want me to try that dress on so bad? It isn’t low cut or anything?” I know, terrible.

So later Tuesday night Zac says, “Well at least go get that blue dress. I got you something to go with it but I don’t know if it will match.”

WHOA! No one mentioned presents!!! So I ran for the dress super excited because I was sure he had used the $10 left on his Kohl’s gift card to buy me some  cutesy beaded necklace to go with my blue dress.

So I come back with my blue dress and say “See!! It’s light blue!! Does it match my present?!?!”

And Zac says, “No. Not at all. Damn.” And he gets up and grabs from his closet… not a cheapo necklace… but THE DRESS!!!

I nearly fainted. I hadn’t mentioned it since early March, not a word of it! And  I haven’t exactly been doing much shopping these days (who is?!?) so any new dress at all would have been enough to make me do a dance. But THE DRESS!! I plan to wear it to every function between my shower and umm… ever.

So without further ado, please meet, THE DRESS:

dress

Oh the box pleates. The pretty pretty colors. It even has two little bows on the back. Sigh.

Men who buy women dresses (in the correct size) are to be held onto very tightly.

And this is reason 191,987 to marry Zac. He listened. He remembered. He bought. Amen.
